When is it ok to sell the “home ranch?” That is a pretty scary question and one most would never consider. We wouldn’t have either if it hadn’t been for Holistic Decision Making.
It seems we tend to avoid testing decisions and fully engage in Holistic Decision Making exactly when it is most critical that we do so. We tend to neglect the process during periods of overwhelming confidence or times of lost hope. Exactly when we are sure of success or failure is when we MUST take the time and effort to test our decisions. In our experience, the best Marginal Reaction for Testing our Decisions is when we are absolutely sure that we don’t need to. It would have been so easy to avoid the hardest decision of our life ~ to sell our ranch and move.
How did we leave a place that chiseled our very being? Our character meshed with every fold and canyon of the foothills. We reminisced about the good times, were awed by the beauty and acknowledged how the trials weathered in this place made us strong. But in spite of history, emotion, or peer pressure, we knew it was time to leave just as a child comes to know it is time to leave their mother’s hearth. How did we arrive at that “knowing?”
